What’s more important? Physical or mental health?

The simple answer is that they are both just as important as each other but of course you may prioritise one over the other and this is all down to each individual and their own circumstances. As ever there are many benefits to having good physical health but I believe keeping a good and positive mental health is just as beneficial in day to day life.

Once your body begins to give up its down to your mind and mental capacity to keep pushing through and this can be tied into any situation, may that be on a daily basis with regular scenarios such as the stresses of work or it could be tied into when you are exercising.

If your mind isn’t 100% feeling the task in hand then your body will not be up to putting in the right amount of effort either. This happens to everyone at some point in their life and it’s natural that you’re challenged but its how you deal with it that is the important thing.

You may or may not know that exercising can improve your mental health just as much as it can improve your physical health, so I believe it is important that everyone stays active in some way or another, may that be attending the gym or workout class, or it could mean going for a walk / bike ride. All of these can help you relax and ease your mind but they also release endorphins into the body that contribute to improving your mood and making you feel better.

No matter if you are focused more on your physical health or more on your mental health, it is always a good idea to make sure you are working on both in some way or another to ensure that you have a good health balance to your lifestyle.
